Introducing Cukui into the In4mation Pearlridge shop. Here’s a little break down>>>

IN HAWAII, KUKUI is a Candlenut, and the tree from which it grows, is a symbol of enlightenment, protection and peace. Candlenut was considered to be the body form of Kamapua’a, the pig god.

IN THE MEXICAN-AMERICAN community there is a creature known as “EL CUCUY”. It is a creature that eats children who misbehave when they are told to go to bed. Parents will sing lullabies or tell rhymes to the children warning them that if they don’t sleep, El Cukuy will come and get them. Some describe El Cucuy as a small humanoid with glowing red eyes that hides in closets or under the bed. Some lore has him as a kid who was the victim of violence … and now he’s alive, but he’s not.

IN THE BAY AREA, CUKUI is absolutely the same as all previous definitions, but includes the addition of a couple graffiti & tattoo artists.

Its funny how a word can sound the same but have a completely different definition…

CUKUI, is a challenge to embrace, and respect unknown theories and practices. We depend on humility, and humor to pierce through doubts, and define our life how we think it should be.

Mike Giant from Rebel8 (rebel8.com) reinterpreted my Stay Gold glider plane with his amazing hand styles. Look closely at the design and you will recognize familiar sayings from both my work and his. I have been a long time fan of his work and I am honored to have him work on a piece for the Benny Gold line. The design is amazing! Thanks, Mike!

Hersk (hersk.com) lent his hand for the Days of Gold shirt. He and I have enjoyed more skate sessions together than I can remember. This design is inspired by our skate adventures and the retro 80s colors really add to the nostalgia. I love how the vintage skateboard products and spots create the letters of the design.
